REGAL 2220 FASDECK
For about 40 years now, Regal has been a name that is recognized for its innovation, quality and integrity in an industry that has seen many boat builders go away. Yet the Kuck family still today owns and operates one of the most respected boat manufacturing businesses around.
Founded 40 years ago by the late Paul and Carol Kuck, the same caring and attention to detail is found in every Regal Boat today that has been there all along the way. The Regal Story
REGAL STORY is truly an exciting one and one that gives all of us the true blueprint for success.
With all of this in mind, the 2220 FasDeck by Regal is another one of their successes. It is an example of what careful planning and attention to the market as well as the design detail produces in the boating world. This is a beautiful, functional and exciting boat, that can be a sedate family day boat or a roaring, pulse quickening go fast model that will slick your hair back and or let you do all the watersports that you could ever want.
Boatcan saw the 2220 FasDeck in the George`s Marine and Sports Display at the Ottawa Boat Show. The boat was displayed as if it were sterned into a dock at the marina and it gave you a good feeling of what it would look like in the water.
Our Review Model had the optional extended swim platform. This is added to the actual hull of the boat where there is already a well designed and very functional integrated platform space. The optional platform however, had the simulated teak addition and to say the least, it is a very inviting look while being comfortable and safe under foot. The add-on platform also gives more space for swimming, sitting, or a place to enter the water behind the boat on a line having fun on a board or skis. Entering the boat was made even easier with this extended platform.
From here it only made sense to have a good look at the boat. Deckboats have changed from being quite cumbersome to being extremely sleek and handsome. The 2220 is certainly the latter. As you look over the boat you see all of the amenities of a comfortable sport boat, beautifully designed to fit this sleek looking model. Little things do catch your attention.
Deckboats typically maintain their beam for most of the length of the boat. With slight variations at the bow and stern the boat is much straighter than a similarly sized bow rider or runabout. The Regal is no exception. This allows for extra space in the boat and in the bow area the seating is reasonably wide, probably wide enough for two instead of no seat or a very sharp v seat in the usual runabout. This allows for a lot of seating forward, seats for 2 on either side and space for a fairly large table where you can enjoy a snack or beverage on the water. This provides an extremely roomy fore area and comfortable space. If sitting is not your preference, Regal has the bulkhead immediately in front of the windshield padded so this area is also a super lounge space with comfort for two on either side up front.
Looking forward form the rear of the cockpit you see more Regal innovations. I like to call it the swing seat back. Years ago, Regal recognized that many times looking back to the rear of the boat for whatever reason needed to be comfortable. The swinging seat back provides a comfortable rest when looking forward or if you move it, you now have a comfortable rest when looking aft. This is found both on the companion seat of this boat and as part of the rear bench which becomes a sunmat when activating the seat back.
To the left of the boat is a seating space and or a great sun lounge for catching a nap or some rays or both. The swivel captain’s chair is a bucket seat that is comfortable, supportive and it keeps the operator of the boat planted should sharp turns or rough water be the case.
The 2220 FasDeck has a walk thru windshield on either side of which is a console. The efficiently designed and totally functional helm is to the right or starboard side of the boat. The left module houses a totally private head and or change area, so that passengers and crew have creature comforts while out on the water for a day to make time aboard more pleasant.
Fully aft in the cockpit is a comfortable and easily used seat which when the seat back is in place has seating looking to the front of the boat or behind to be a spotter for someone who may be on the end of a tow line. Activate the seat back, and the area is transformed into a large sunmat.
Storage in the boat is plentiful. Infloor storage abounds and is easy to access. There is storage under the seats and in the easily lifted seat cushions. And there is plenty of storage under the bow area seats. There are gas assisted lift panels which also have large storage areas and are extremely easy to get at. To say the least, storage is not an issue on this Regal.
So how does this 22 foot Deckboat set itself above other boats of similar size. Obviously, the Regal quality is one of the answers that works well here. But there is a distinctive difference in the Regal 2220 FasDeck. It is the FasTrac hull design. Some tears ago, Regal was recognized for its FasTrac Hull. Used initially in the conventionally styled and designed models, it has been utilized in the FasDeck Series also.
The FasTrac design places a full mid beam step in the hull to force air under the hull of the boat. This reduces drag and friction so that it takes less power to get the same performance in the FasTrac hull that would be required in a conventional hull. Simply stated, a Regal hull will go further and faster on less fuel. A dollar saver and performance enhancer.
This concept, has been utilized in the 2220 FasDeck, and the results are equally exciting. A fast smooth riding boat, nimble in the turns it carves, and extremely pleasing to the eye, this boat is sure to turn heads, and quicken pulses wherever it goes.
So enter the new Regal 2220 FasDeck or the 2220 RX. Here is a boat with the bloodlines of previous Regal FasTrac sportboat designs, but with the necessity of today’s deckboat functionality. It dances on top of a choppy surface and hugs tight to the water in turns It fits well into a garage and tows with ease. With a combination of power, panache and performance, the 2220 proves that great athletes are not born... they are made....
